KS Veterinary Acupuncture was established in 2010 by veterinary surgeon Kate Simm.
Kate qualified as a vet from Glasgow Vet School in 1995. She worked in general practice for 25 years, the last 13 years of which were at the Ark Veterinary Centre in Colchester. It was while working at the Ark that Kate developed an interest in the management of chronic pain conditions and in 2010 undertook training through the Association of British Veterinary Acupuncturists (ABVA) to be able to start using acupuncture in the treatment of her patients. For 10 years she provided an acupuncture service to clients of the Ark alongside her general vet duties.
In 2020, Kate decided to concentrate solely on her pain management and acupuncture clinics. These are still based at the Ark Veterinary Centre in Colchester. She now offers the treatment as a referral service and clients from other veterinary practices can come to the Ark to receive treatment.
In addition to being a member of the Royal College of Veterinary Surgeons, Kate is a member of the Association of British Veterinary Acupuncturists (ABVA) and the Western Veterinary Acupuncture Group (WVAG). Kate attends regular courses and workshops and is continually maintaining, improving and broadening her skills and knowledge.
